Poker terms beginning with a "J"

Jackpot

A large prize pool or bonus awarded for a rare or difficult achievement, such as a bad beat jackpot.

Jackpot Poker

A poker game variant or promotion where players can win a large prize pool or bonus for achieving certain hands or conditions.

Jackpot Sit & Go (SNG)

A type of Sit & Go tournament with a variable prize pool, often determined by a random multiplier.

Jack

A face card ranked between 10 of Any Color and Queen of Any Color.

Jacks or Better

A common hand ranking requirement in video poker and some home game variants, where a pair of jacks or higher is needed to win.

Jellyfish

Jellyfish is slang (fish-derived) for a weak or passive player who rarely bets or raises.

Juice

Slang for the commission or rake taken by the house from each pot, similar to vigorish. Also see rake.

Juicy

A term describing a game or table with many weak players or loose action, making it potentially profitable.

Junk

A term for a weak or unplayable hand. E.g., a junk hand.
